How is your body functioning, and why?

You're training hard, but still not improving. Something is holding you back and you can't work out what it is. You need to place clear focus where it's needed.

Bring the body back into alignment.

We always start with a conversation. Injuries, past and present. Surgeries. The things that came back no matter what you tried. Then we talk about your actual life, work, sleep, stress, training load what your body does every day and what you may not be doing.
Physical load and psychological load both effect the body, and they tend to show up in similar places.
I'm looking for patterns, not a list of complaints. What comes out of this is as much about what you should stop doing as what you should start.

Before you move, I observe how you hold yourself. Where your centre of gravity lies. What your pelvic positoning is like, the level of your shoulders and even right down to a patch of hard skin on the inside of a foot.
None of it is random. Every part of you is a telling part of the story.
Uneven wear on a tyre isn't a tyre problem. It's telling you the alignment is off. Replace the tyre and you'll be back in six months with the same wear in the same place.
Squat, lunge, push, pull, walk, run. These aren't gym exercises they are functional movements we do in every day life. You do these hundreds of times a week without thinking about it, and if you're doing them inefficiently, that inefficiency is being repeated thousands of times until something breaks down.
Movement is also where your asymmetries show themselves. Nobody is symmetrical. A weakness in the outer hip can surface as pain on the inside of the shin. Every step sends load through the chain, and if your movement habits are dysfunctional through injury, fear, or poor mechanics, you're reinforcing that pattern every time you move.
A single movement can tell me a lot about how you got here, and how your body would hold up under the repeated stress of everyday life.

Six principle of fitness make up how a body performs: strength, power, flexibility, mobility, balance, endurance. Almost everyone I see has built one or two of these and let the rest fade into the sunset.
So we check them properly. Range of movement in every joint. Strength on both side, alone and then together. Your Balance and then a conversation about your aerobic fitness & loading strategies.
We aren't scoring you we are putting it all out on the table, to find out which of these you've been missing, and where you need to place your focus.

I'm not handing you a sheet on the way out and telling you to crack on. I take all of it, the history, the observations, the screening, the tests, and create a clear picture. Patterns that go unnoticed tend to show themselves when you sit back and take a deeper look into it.
You will recieve a written breakdown that explains what I found, what it means, and exactly what to do about it.
The thing you couldn't work out on your own, you now understand.

The guarantee
Complete the sessions, do the work I set you, and if we re-test at the end and nothing has improved, you get your money back. The re-test uses the same markers as your first assessment, so it isn't a matter of opinion.
Different starting points
Three very different people. Three different problems. Each one began with the same assessment.

"I'd had problems with my back for the best part of 25 years. Chiropractors, massage, painkillers, you name it, I'd had it. Four weeks in, my pain has as good as cleared completely, and my flexibility is better now than when I was a teenager. My only regret is that I never discovered this earlier."

"I applied for the full reset hoping he could solve a longstanding back, hip and knee issue that was escalating to pain when I was hiking. He quickly identified the issues and designed a bespoke plan, no one size fits all with Stephen. The day I realised my hip was no longer hurting was a revelation. My favourite pastime is once more enjoyable."

"I came in wanting my body ready for something I'd never asked it to do. The assessment found what I needed to work on, and everything after was built around that one goal. Seven months later I was standing at Everest Base Camp."
Chasing something like Cassie's? Everest, a marathon, a personal best.

Stephen Jack BSc (Hons)
For years I worked as an Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor in the Army's Regional Rehabilitation Units, alongside specialist musculoskeletal teams. I led three-week residential courses for spines, upper and lower limbs, assessing patients and building individual programmes to get them back to full function. Special Forces, UK athletes, soldiers who had to be operational again.
I was Head of Strength and Conditioning for the Army Triathlon Team, running the testing and programming that took athletes to victory in the inter-services competitions.
Underneath this is a First Class Honours degree in Strength & Conditioning, a Specialised Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor qualification, and a deep body understanding of the body built on top of 20+ years excelling in this area.

When I assess you, I'm drawing on twenty years and thousands of bodies, from soldiers to first-timers who'd never set foot in a gym.
Stephen's Credentials
No. Most people who come haven't exercised properly in a long time, and plenty have never done anything structured. The assessment meets you exactly where you are. There's nothing to prepare and nothing to prove.
No. Some people come with a specific problem, some come because something feels off and they can't name it, and some just want to understand their body before it becomes a problem. All three are the right reason.
Yes. This works alongside physio, not instead of it. If you're mid-treatment or waiting for an appointment, the assessment still gives you a full picture of how your whole body is moving, which is often the part a physio doesn't have time to look at.
It depends on where you are in recovery, so message me first and we'll talk it through honestly. If you're too early or you need medical clearance, I'll tell you straight and we'll wait until it's right.
Yes. Whether it's hypermobility, ME, fatigue, or anything else, the assessment and anything that follows is built around you and what your body can safely do. If there's a movement that isn't right for you, we don't do it. Tell me beforehand and I'll plan around it.
A physio usually focuses on the injury and the area around it. I look at how your whole body moves as a system, because the place it hurts is often just where the problem has ended up, not where it started. Different job, and they work well together.
It's a low-risk assessment built around what you can comfortably do. Nothing is forced, nothing is pushed to failure, and you're in control throughout. If something doesn't feel right, we stop.
Then I'll tell you, and I'll point you to who can. This is exercise rehabilitation, not diagnosis. If something needs a doctor or a physio first, you'll hear that from me at the assessment. You won't be guided towards something that isn't right for you.
Once the foundation is solid
Rebuild gets your body working the way it should. Performance is what happens next, when there's something specific you're working towards. This isn't another tier off the assessment. It's ongoing coaching built entirely around your goal, once your foundation can carry it.
What's included
On the calendar right now
Current client goals. Yours could be a first 5k, a military entry test, or something you haven't said out loud yet.

Places available
Two places open. I take a small number at a time, because this only works with real attention.

Most people spend years managing aches, pains & injuries. It's time to take a deeper look. The TRACK assessment is where that starts.
