Inner Fire is the more energising, adventurous option, with stronger yoga and self guided hikes to wake up your system and reconnect you with drive and courage. Inner Harmony is slower and more restorative, with gentle movement, meditation and plenty of quiet space to decompress, reset and come back to yourself. THE RETREAT TEAM

At the heart of our mountain yoga retreats in the Spanish Pyrenees is a powerful collaboration between Stephen Jack, transformational yoga and meditation teacher, and Laura Morris, the creative force behind Fox House, Casa Guilla.

Laura is the soul of the house, a gifted chef, designer, and host whose warmth fills every corner of this historic stone sanctuary. From her handcrafted interiors to nourishing, home-cooked meals served beneath mountain skies, her presence brings life and depth to your stay. By her side is Karl, her husband and the quiet engine that keeps everything running smoothly. Karl ensures the house remains a seamless haven, handling logistics, maintenance, and the behind-the-scenes flow that allows everything else to shine.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN PATH

SELF-GUIDED HIKES

Our retreats give you the freedom to choose your own adventure each day. With a range of self guided hikes from gentle walks to longer days off the beaten track, you decide how far to go, how hard to push and how long to stay out in the Spanish Pyrenees. We provide route notes, links to Komoot (navigation app) and GPX files so you can follow each trail with confidence and return to Fox House for food, yoga and recovery.

How it Works

  • Use our route cards, Komoot links and GPX files, then check back in at Fox House when you return.
  • Choose from several graded routes (Level 1–3) and decide whether to go solo or with others from the group.
  • Morning check in to review the weather, the route options and how you are feeling.

Route options

  • Level 1 – Gentle trails: 0-1 hour on groomed gravel roads and forest paths with very gradual ascent & descents.
  • Level 2 – Mountain days: 1-3 hours with more ascent, steeper climbs and rockier ground in places.
  • Level 3 – Big mountain days: 3+ hours, longer time on feet, rougher terrain and more sustained climbing and descending with exposure.

A SPACE TO BE FULLY YOU

TOGETHER

EXPERIENCES THAT LAST A LIFETIME

2 EXPERIENCE DAYS INCLUDED

Unforgettable days that take you deeper into the land, the stars, and yourself

Each Lone Wolf Vision retreat in the Spanish Pyrenees is unique not just in its teachings, but in the carefully curated experiences that immerse you in the wild beauty and cultural richness of the region. These are not ordinary excursions. They are soul-stirring, sense-awakening adventures that expand what it means to “retreat.” Some days might take you upward — deep into protected mountain regions like Aigüestortes, where ancient paths lead to pristine alpine lakes and untouched landscapes. The stillness here is alive, and just walking in these high places becomes a kind of meditation in motion.

Other days look to the stars. A local astronomy expert may join us one evening with his professional-grade telescope, offering a guided stargazing experience beneath some of the clearest skies in Europe. Expect myths, science, wonder — and a humbling sense of how small and beautiful we are. Then there are days by water, like paddleboarding across the turquoise expanse of Pantà de Sant Antoni, Catalonia’s largest freshwater reservoir. Cool, expansive, and utterly freeing, it’s a chance to move, laugh, and feel the sun on your skin as the mountains reflect back around you. Or perhaps we’ll travel through time, walking among real dinosaur footprints and ancient fossils in the hillside city of Orcau. This unique visit is often paired with a wine tasting at a local vineyard, where the geological stories of the land meet the depth and richness of its harvest. It’s earthy, raw, and unforgettable.

These experience days are woven with intention — not just for fun, but to support the deeper rhythm of your retreat journey. They offer a chance to connect, reflect, and awaken something elemental within you — all while discovering the hidden treasures of the Pyrenees.

LEGEND & REALITY MEET

LONE WOLF OF CATALONIA

Just beyond the ridgelines behind Fox House, the myth of the lone wolf has stirred for generations, a silent shadow moving through pine and stone, glimpsed only in passing. But in early 2024, that myth stepped into reality. Less than ten miles from Fox House, a trail camera captured this real image, a European wolf, wild and alone, roaming the hills. That the wild is not gone, only waiting. These animals embody the spirit of solitary wanderers, forging paths across human-dominated landscapes. They appear, leave a trace—a paw print, some fur, a camera image—then vanish, yet they remain deeply symbolic: guardians of connection to wild nature.

After being declared extinct in Catalonia in 1929, wolf sightings began again from the early 2000s onward, thanks to dispersing Italian and Central European wolves entering from France. A particularly remarkable case involves an Italian wolf and one born in Germany traveling into Catalonia. For instance, a wolf born near Nordhorn, Germany, trekked some 1,240 km across Europe and was confirmed via genetic analysis in the Al t a Ribagorça region in early 2023, making it one of the longest recorded wolf migrations ever!

RETREAT FAQS

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

TRAVEL & LOGISTICS
How do I get to Fox House to start the retreat?
Flights are not included in the retreat package, but we’re happy to support you with flight suggestions based on your location to ensure you arrive in time for our group transfer from Reus Airport. You’re also welcome to hire a car from your arrival airport and drive to the retreat. This gives you the added freedom to explore the local area during your free time.
Can I arrive late or leave early?
Yes, it’s possible to arrive early or stay an extra night, but we do ask that you let us know in advance. We’ll need to check availability, and any additional nights will be charged separately. Just give us as much notice as you can so we can make the necessary arrangements.

HIKING & SAFETY – SELF GUIDED ROUTES
How do the self guided hikes work on a typical day?
Each retreat day we look at the weather forecast and the wider retreat schedule, then recommend the best time window to head out. On most days there will be 2–3 route options available at different levels. You choose the level and length that feels right for you, and there is plenty of opportunity across the week to get out into the mountains. All hikes on this retreat are self guided (with the exception of occasional easy dog walks with the Fox House owners).
Do I have to hike at a fixed time, or can I choose when to go out?
We’ll advise the safest and most enjoyable time windows to hike based on the weather and any experience days or shared activities we have planned. Within that guidance there is flexibility – you don’t have to leave at an exact time, but all guests are asked to be back at Fox House by around 5 pm so we can confirm everyone is safely off the hill before evening yoga and dinner.
Do I need to be an experienced hiker to join?
You don’t need to be a seasoned mountaineer, but you should be comfortable walking on uneven ground for at least a couple of hours. Level 1 routes are designed for people with basic fitness who enjoy walking and are happy with some uphill on good paths. Levels 2 and 3 are better suited to guests who already enjoy longer, hillier days and are used to climbing and descending more sustained gradients.
What fitness level do I need for Level 1, 2 and 3 routes?
  • Level 1 – Gentle trails: Can walk roughly 5–8 km on undulating paths, with steady but not extreme uphill. Happy on forest and valley tracks, okay with taking your time and not rushing.
  • Level 2 – Mountain days: Used to hillier walks or longer days, can comfortably manage 10–15 km with around 500–800 m of ascent. Confident walking on rockier paths and steeper climbs/descents, but no technical scrambling.
  • Level 3 – Big mountain days: Experienced hillwalker or trail runner with strong legs and good balance, comfortable with rougher, steeper terrain and periods of exposure. No fear of heights, used to 1000 m+ of ascent in a day, and able to stay out for 5–7 hours at a steady, sustainable pace.
We’ll always chat to you about your background and how you’re feeling before suggesting which level makes sense for you. You can mix levels across the week – it doesn’t have to be the same every day.
Do I have to hike in a group, or can I go alone?
You have the choice. You are welcome to head out solo if you’re confident navigating and moving safely on the terrain. However, we strongly recommend hiking in pairs or small groups wherever possible, especially on the longer or more technical routes. Many guests naturally team up with people choosing the same level.
What navigation support do you provide (maps, Komoot, GPX)?
For each route we provide:
  • A map covering the area of the hike
  • A link to the route in Komoot (we advise you download the offline map in advance)
  • GPX files that you can load onto your phone or GPS watch
Most guests will use either their phone with Komoot or a GPX viewer app, or a GPS watch such as Garmin or Coros. Phone signal is available on most routes but there are some dead spots, so offline maps and a fully charged device are essential. We’ll brief you on how to access and follow the routes before you head out.
What safety systems do you have in place for self guided hikes?
We take a layered approach to safety while still keeping the freedom of self guided hiking:
  • A sign-in / sign-out system at Fox House so we know which route you’re doing and your expected return time.
  • A pre-hike briefing covering weather, conditions, route specifics and any particular hazards.
  • Use of the Life360 app so we can see your general location and movement on the hill, which helps us keep an eye on progress and respond more quickly if plans change.
  • For many routes there is vehicle access at certain points, so if someone needs to cut their day short we may be able to pick them up.
If you appear to be overdue, or your location doesn’t change for longer than expected, we will first try to contact you directly. If we’re unable to reach you and have concerns, we will start local checks along the logical access points and, if necessary, support you in contacting the appropriate emergency services.
What should I do if I get into difficulty on a hike?
If there is an immediate or serious emergency, your first step should be to call the local emergency services if you have signal. As soon as you are able, contact us at Fox House so we know what is happening and can support as needed.

For non-emergencies (tired, minor niggle, slower than planned), contact us first – we can often advise on shortcuts, turning back, or in some cases arranging a pickup where the route allows road access. We’ll provide key contact numbers and instructions in your welcome pack and at the pre-retreat briefing.
Do I need special insurance or forms for the hiking?
Yes. Because these retreats include self guided hiking in mountainous terrain, we require:
  • Travel insurance that covers hiking/trekking in the mountains (non-technical) in Spain for the duration of your trip.
  • A basic health and medical declaration so we are aware of any conditions we should consider when advising you.
  • Completion of our activity waiver and consent forms relating to mountain activities, yoga and other retreat elements.
Full details will be sent once you book, so you can put the right cover and paperwork in place.
What equipment and clothing do I need to bring for hiking?
You’ll receive a full kit list after booking, but as a minimum for any hike we expect you to have:
  • Trail running shoes or hiking shoes with good grip (no smooth-soled road trainers on mountain routes)
  • A small day pack
  • At least 1–1.5 litres of water
  • Snacks/food appropriate for the length of your hike
  • A waterproof jacket
  • A warm layer (e.g. fleece or light insulated jacket)
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sun cream)
  • A fully charged phone with the Komoot route or GPX loaded (a small power bank is strongly recommended)
  • Any regular personal medication you may need
We have trekking poles available as an option if you like using them, and we’ll advise you before the retreat if any extra seasonal kit is recommended.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The mountains are beautiful but weather dependent. On poor weather days we may:
  • Switch to lower or shorter Level 1 style routes
  • Modify or cancel Level 2 and 3 routes if conditions make them unsafe
  • In more extreme weather, cancel hiking for that day altogether
If that happens, we lean into other retreat elements – extra yoga, breathwork, recovery work, time to rest, journal or simply slow down at Fox House. You will always be briefed on any changes and the reasons behind them.
Do I have to hike every day? Can I just do yoga – or run the routes instead of walking?
You never have to hike every day. This is your retreat – you are free to skip hikes and stay at Fox House, join the yoga, rest, read or enjoy gentle walks from the house instead.

If you are a runner, many of the routes can also be completed as trail runs rather than walks, provided you still follow the safety systems and return by the agreed time.
Are non-hiking guests welcome?
Yes. It’s absolutely fine to join the retreat primarily for the yoga, the setting and the slower pace of life. There are gentle local walks directly from Fox House and plenty of space to relax if you prefer not to head into the bigger hills. Just let us know your preferences when you book so we can set expectations clearly.
What is not included in the self guided hiking – and where does my responsibility begin?
These retreats do not include technical climbing, ropework, via ferrata, winter mountaineering or any routes that require specialist equipment beyond normal hiking gear. Our itineraries avoid technical scrambling and snow/ice routes.

By choosing to take part in the self guided hikes you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own pace, decisions and safety on the hill. We support you with route planning, briefings, navigation tools, recommended time windows, a sign-in/sign-out system and general oversight, but we are not providing a fully guided mountain leader service.

If you are unsure whether this style of hiking is right for you, we are always happy to talk it through before you book.
